Coolant Leak

I don't know what's with the spate of ho-hum car related dreams of late. I don't remember much, but here's what I've got:

I was working alongside Chunky in some kind of automotive tech capacity. I had a car which would qualify as a gravy boat, ripe with maintenance and guaranteed upsales. It was a '99 Civic with overheating issues. The only problem was that the customer didn't have the money to fix much of anything. I spent much of the dream cataloging the various places where coolant was leaking from the vehicle, with Chunky looking over my shoulder.

He was actually being helpful, rather than his usual cutthroat gravy hogging self. He pointed out that although I'd identified quite a few leaks, there was still one glaring leak from the engine block that I'd overlooked. I quickly added it to the wish list.

The customer took the car, opting out of all but the cheapest repairs. We informed them that the overheating problem would persist until all of the leaks were corrected and advised them not to drive the car very far, if at all. I guess, as a courtesy, I was included in the price of the repairs, as a chaperone, to accompany them and make sure that they drove the car in a safe manner.

They didn't make it very far, however, before the temp gauge started creeping up into the red. We were on a freeway overpass with nowhere to pull over, so we had to keep driving until there was a safe spot to do so. By that time, the gauge was pegged, and steam was coming out from under the hood.

That's where the dream left off. Nothing spectacular. A boring news day in dreamland.
